1. The vowel sound / eɪ /

It’s a long vowel sound. Listen and repeat these examples:

3. The vowel sound /æ/

Important for listening:

In most accents, the following words have the vowel /æ/: ask, dance, castle, bath, fast, etc. But in South East England, speakers change the “a” sound in words such as these to /ɑː/.
